I love these hands. Along with his eyes, Rusty's hands were one of the first things I noticed about him. They are working hands -- accustomed to dirt and sweat and callouses. Yet they are not so tough that they can't also provide a gentle, loving touch. Eyes are the windows to the soul, but hands are tools designed to give to a family what each of them needs during different times in their lives. These hands are perfect.

Easter weekend

Easter weekend was great! Aside from Chase hogging either mine or Rusty's bed (the camp house has single beds in it!), it was very relaxing! Whatever sleep we missed out on during the night due to Chase's big butt was made up for during the lazy days just hanging out at the camp house or the pond.
Kamyn had her schedule full though. Sunday morning she drove to Pearsall to see her cousin get baptized then stayed to help with the little kids' Easter egg hunt. She got back to us around 3, then she, Reba, and I laid out by the pond and studied for her upcoming medical terminology final. Whew! I'm glad those college exam days are over for me!
Kyle pretty much fished at the pond off and on and shot at cans with the .22 while Ant and Reba hung out with the adults. We'll be setting up our own spot at the lease in June, so we're looking forward to that! I just hope the men don't get too upset with the way I might "girlie-fy" the place! Hah!

Ohhh - look at those little peeps, being so still so whatever happened to that chocolate chick doesn't happen to them! hah!

That's my girl! country chic!

Reba

Reba is kicking butt in pole vaulting! Yaaaay for her!
She's been placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in every track meet thus far.
Her district meet is Thursday, April 16, and she's pretty confident that she'll do well enough to qualify for regionals! Cool!

fence-building

Hooray! We now have fences that the horses cannot stick their heads over and ruin! Whoever invented barbed wire is my new best friend! And Rusty and the boys are in my good graces for quite awhile for actually using it! hehe!

Junior
This is the reason for the new fence. Kacky is a sweetheart, but Junior is really a PIG dressed up in a horse suit!

The finished product!

Rusty using the come-along to stretch the field fencing. What a great name for a tool! "Come along and get tight, you fence!" hahahah!

(check out our blown-over chicken coop in the back! hahah! needless to say, we no longer have chickens!)

okay okay . . . I know!

Such the slacker I am! hahah! I have not posted since Spring Break, and even then I did not post the pictures I said I would post! Actually, my sister sent me the pictures from Kailey's phone -- via Snapfish -- I just haven't picked out the ones I want yet! Again -- slacker! Promise to post soon!

Meanwhile, above you can see a picture of my nemesis -- the wonderful, lovely, ever-important TAKS test (sarcastically she says!)!!! I have been breathing, eating, and sleeping TAKS for weeks and weeks now. So I'm not really a slacker -- just a blog slacker! After April 30, my life will be back to normal and I can actually teach Chemistry to my Chemistry kids and Biology to my Biology kids. The way it should be. TAKS free.
